Recent Arrests in Connection with Multiple North and Northwest Side Burglaries and Thefts
Chicago police have made several arrests related to recent burglaries and thefts in the North and Northwest sides of the city, including a Nov. 3 incident where two men allegedly broke into an electronic entertainment and gambling machine, stealing around $1,800 in cash.
The suspects were arrested around 2:05 a.m. on Nov. 4 in the 2000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, following a burglary reported several hours earlier at a gas station in the 7100 block of North Sheridan Road, located in the Rogers Park district.
Two of the suspects, Samir Marogail, 34, from the 2000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, and Yong Suk Lee, 35, from the 2200 block of North Enlund Drive in Palatine, were also linked to other incidents, including a burglary on Oct. 19 in the 6400 block of West Belmont Avenue in Jefferson Park and another on Nov. 3 in the 3200 block of North Pulaski Road in Albany Park.
According to police, on Nov. 3 at about 2:05 p.m., Marogail and Lee entered the Belford Tavern, 3200 N. Pulaski Road, and allegedly used a crowbar to open a gaming machine and steal cash. The suspects reportedly told patrons that they were “repo men” to deflect suspicion.
Marogail faces five felony counts of burglary and three felony counts of theft/unauthorized control, which include incidents on Aug. 16 in the 6400 block of Belmont Avenue and on Sept. 27 in the 5700 block of West Fullerton Avenue in the Grand Central District. A warrant had also been issued for his arrest. Lee faces two felony counts of burglary and two felony counts of theft/unauthorized control.
A third suspect, identified as Timothy Blaze, 34, from Westville, Indiana, was arrested in connection with the gas station incident and charged with one felony count of burglary, one felony count of theft/unauthorized control, and one felony count of possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine.
“This coordinated effort by 16th District, Area 5 Detectives, and Citywide Task Forces is aimed at addressing offenders whose crimes span across the city,” said a district representative.
