Arrests Made in Murder of Madisyn Evans in Newton County

Newton County, Miss. – Law enforcement authorities have made multiple arrests in the tragic death of Madisyn Evans, who was fatally shot on December 23, 2024. Evans, a student and athlete, was killed in a senseless act of violence in Newton, Mississippi.

The suspects charged in the case include:

Quintavious Johnson: Charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, and capital murder.
Jakarie Love: Charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, and capital murder.
Brandon Shephard: Charged as an accessory before the fact to capital murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Lakeithia Ford: Charged with hindering prosecution.
Carlonte Walker: Charged as an accessory after the fact to capital murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Sheriff Joedy Pennington expressed the community’s deep sorrow, calling the killing “a senseless act that took a bright young girl’s life, an act that should not have happened.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working tirelessly to bring justice to Evans’ family. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Newton Police Department, and Newton County Sheriff’s Office, have collaborated in making these arrests.
