Arrest Made in Stabbing Death of Cherry Hill Veterinarian

CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Cristian Custodio-Aquino, 27, of Portland, Oregon, was arrested in Fresno, California, on February 11, 2025, in connection with the stabbing death of Dr. Michael Anthony, a 45-year-old veterinarian from Cherry Hill. Authorities announced murder charges against Custodio-Aquino after he allegedly killed Anthony on December 10, 2024.

Anthony was found dead outside a home on Sharrowvale Road, having suffered multiple stab wounds. Investigators reviewed video footage from the scene, showing Anthony walking outside at 5:24 a.m. followed by screams captured shortly before 6 a.m. Authorities also located prescription glasses at the scene, which were linked to a purchase made by Custodio-Aquino in Washington State.

Detectives traced Custodio-Aquino’s movements and determined that his black sedan was seen at the crime scene. The vehicle was then tracked across multiple states, including Pennsylvania, Florida, Alabama, and Texas, before Custodio-Aquino was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals.

Custodio-Aquino is currently in custody, awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
