A Monroe County woman, Aren Giling, has been indicted for abusing SNAP benefits, allegedly receiving over $38,000 by failing to accurately report her household income. The Mississippi Department of Human Services initiated a fraud investigation, and after gathering sufficient evidence, the case was referred to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
An indictment was secured in July, which led to her arrest by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on October 2nd. Giling is accused of stealing nearly $40,000 in SNAP benefits, raising serious concerns about the misuse of welfare programs designed to assist those in need.
