Antwan Lawson Arrested After High-Speed Chase in Miami

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A high-speed police chase ended dramatically in Miami-Dade when 41-year-old Antwan David Lawson crashed into a home and attempted to escape on foot before being arrested.

The incident began around 3 p.m. on Saturday when a Florida Highway Patrol trooper noticed a black Nissan Maxima driving erratically while exiting Interstate 95. When the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped off, leading officers on a chase that ended with a crash into a home’s yard at Northwest 103rd Street and Northwest 2nd Court.

Dramatic Escape Attempt Caught on Camera
Home surveillance footage captured Lawson jumping out of the wrecked car and fleeing through nearby yards, even scaling fences in an effort to evade police. However, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies quickly set up a perimeter and tracked him down.

Charges and Criminal History
Lawson was taken into custody and now faces six felony charges, including:

Fleeing and eluding police
Reckless driving
Leaving the scene of a crash
Driving with a suspended license
Authorities revealed that Lawson had six prior convictions for driving on a suspended license.

Homeowners React
The homeowners spent Sunday afternoon cleaning up the damage left behind by the crash. They expressed relief that no one was outside at the time, preventing a potentially tragic accident.

Lawson remains in custody as the investigation continues.
