Anthony J. Ulvestad, 17, Arrested in La Crosse Attempted Armed Robbery

A 17-year-old, identified as Anthony J. Ulvestad from Onalaska, has been arrested following an attempted armed robbery Monday night in La Crosse.

Police responded to a call about a gun incident just before 10 p.m. on the 2000 block of West Avenue South. The victim reported that a suspect, whose face was covered by a ski mask, approached their vehicle, struck the window with a gun, and pointed it at them.

Fortunately, the victim had the car locked, preventing the suspect from gaining access. The victim quickly drove off and called the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene.

Officers later pulled over a suspicious vehicle. One of the passengers, later identified as Ulvestad, fled the vehicle on foot. A loaded handgun, used in the attempted robbery, was recovered nearby.

Ulvestad is now in custody at the La Crosse County Jail, facing charges including attempted armed robbery, intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, and possession of a firearm as an adjudicated delinquent of a felony.

Under Wisconsin law, 17-year-olds can be charged as adults, and Ulvestad’s bond has been set at $25,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
