Anthony Grassi Arrested After Foot Chase, Faces Drug and Assault Charges

FLORAL PARK, N.Y. – A 21-year-old Floral Park man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading police on a foot chase following a traffic stop on Friday. Police say they pulled over Anthony Grassi near Hempstead Turnpike and Broadway for swerving. However, Grassi exited his vehicle and fled on foot, prompting a chase by authorities.

During the pursuit, one officer injured his ankle and was taken to the hospital. Grassi was eventually apprehended. Following his arrest, police reportedly found 84 bags containing cocaine in his car, along with a scale and pepper spray.

Grassi was arraigned on multiple charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance, assault, driving while ability impaired, and traffic violations. Prosecutors noted that Grassi has a prior conviction. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
