Anthony Bell Faces Multiple Charges After Swallowing Drugs

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A 45-year-old man from Evansville is facing multiple charges after police say he swallowed drugs in an attempt to avoid detection during a traffic stop.

Officers pulled over Anthony Bell on Monday night at the intersection of Covert and Rotherwood. Bell appeared disoriented, struggling to locate his ID, and showed signs of impairment, including dilated pupils and unsteady movements.

Upon searching him, police discovered several small plastic bags and over $1,000 in cash in Bell’s pockets. In his vehicle, officers found a large bag of synthetic marijuana, as well as bottles containing more than five ounces of oil, which tested positive for mushrooms.

During transport to the jail, Bell began groaning and appeared to be sick in the back of the patrol car. Officers noticed his erratic behavior, including speaking incoherently and mentioning being “in the Matrix.”

At the hospital, Bell tested positive for amphetamines and THC. Police later reviewed dashcam footage, revealing that Bell had swallowed something while being escorted to the patrol car.

Bell now faces charges of dealing controlled substances, driving under the influence of drugs, and obstruction of justice.
