A 25-year-old woman from Sheldon was arrested Friday evening, March 14, on charges of fifth-degree theft after stealing chicken and lobster from a local Hy-Vee store.
According to the Sheldon Police Department, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. when Baldwin was seen on surveillance footage placing an item below chicken and lobster at the self-checkout lane, scanning it, and then placing the chicken and lobster into her bag. A store employee also witnessed the transaction.
The stolen items, valued between $35 and $60, were recovered, and Baldwin was taken into custody. Fifth-degree theft charges apply to incidents where the value of the stolen goods is under $300.
