Dunedin, FL — Ann Milewski, an employee at Home Plate on the Trail restaurant, was arrested after it was discovered that she had been canceling transactions and pocketing the cash. According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the thefts, which date back to 2021, totaled more than $57,000.
The restaurant’s owners became aware of the issue after being alerted by their Certified Public Accountant (CPA), who noticed discrepancies in the canceled transactions. Upon further investigation, it was found that Milewski had been canceling items on cash orders and taking the money for herself.
Over the course of three days, the owners observed Milewski engaging in this activity, prompting them to report the theft to law enforcement. When questioned by deputies, Milewski could not provide an explanation for the discrepancies in the transaction records and eventually requested a lawyer.
Milewski is now facing charges related to theft, with the amount stolen spanning several years. The investigation remains ongoing, and the sheriff’s office continues to examine additional potential fraudulent activity tied to the case.
