Ankit Arrested for Stealing Donation Box from Temple in Sector 31

The UT Police have arrested a 29-year-old resident of Ramdarbar, identified as Ankit, for allegedly stealing a donation box from the Sri Jagannath temple in Sector 31. The accused was taken into police remand after being produced in the local court.

The theft took place on the early morning of February 7, 2025, when some unknown individuals entered the temple and stole a donation box containing cash. The priest, Santosh Panda, reported the theft immediately by calling 112. Police responded quickly, recorded the priest’s statement, and filed a case under theft charges against unidentified individuals.

Following a thorough investigation, the police arrested Ankit and recovered the stolen donation box from his possession. Authorities disclosed that Ankit is a drug addict, and they are currently questioning him to determine if he is involved in other crimes in the area.

The investigation is ongoing as police look to identify whether Ankit has any links to additional criminal activities in Sector 31 and surrounding areas.
