A Toledo woman, Angelica Delao, was arrested on January 3 after leading law enforcement on a nearly 50-mile chase following a theft at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Findlay.
The incident began around 12:11 p.m. when Findlay police responded to reports of retail theft at the store. Delao allegedly stole items and fled the scene, prompting a pursuit that began when police spotted her vehicle on County Road 99.
Delao ignored a traffic stop, initiating a high-speed chase that lasted 29 minutes and covered 46.5 miles. The pursuit took officers north on I-75, east on State Route 582, then to Perrysburg on N. Dixie Hwy., and back to I-75.
The chase ended when Delao slowed due to traffic, and Rossford Police used vehicle-to-vehicle contact to stop her car.
Delao was arrested and charged with theft, fleeing and eluding, and an additional charge of felonious assault on a police officer is being requested. The chase reached speeds of around 100 mph. Multiple police departments assisted in the pursuit.
