Andrew Emerich Arrested for Triple Homicide at Ely State Prison

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) — Andrew Emerich, 36, was arrested in Reno on Monday in connection with a triple homicide that occurred at Ely State Prison in July 2024.

The Nevada Attorney General’s Office had reached out to the Regional Gang Unit in December 2024, seeking assistance in locating Emerich, who was identified as a key suspect in the brutal killings.

After being released from Ely State Prison, Emerich had reportedly settled in the Reno/Sparks area, where authorities were able to track him down. He was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail on a series of serious charges, including:

Murder with a Deadly Weapon x3
Attempted Murder with a Deadly Weapon x5
Battery by a Prisoner with a Deadly Weapon x5
Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by Prisoner
Gang Enhancement
Emerich’s arrest follows an extensive investigation and marks a significant step in solving the horrific crimes at Ely State Prison.
