Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos Granted Bail in Perth

Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, a 29-year-old Colombian entertainer, has been granted bail during a court appearance in Perth. He faces several serious charges related to alleged crimes committed on September 29.

Under the conditions of his bail, Barrientos must remain in Western Australia, avoid any contact with the alleged victim, and refrain from posting about the case on social media. Additionally, he is required to surrender his passport and report to the police daily, with a surety set at AU$100,000 (NZ$110,520).

Prosecutors opposed the bail, citing concerns that he might flee the state. Barrientos was arrested in Brisbane on Wednesday before being extradited back to Perth.

The entertainer, who has amassed 1.8 million followers on YouTube, began his Australian tour in Perth before moving to Melbourne and Sydney, with plans to end in Brisbane. He is accused of assaulting a woman in her 20s in a hotel room after performing at a nightclub.

Barrientos is charged with four counts of rape, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of impeding the woman’s normal breathing by applying pressure to her neck. He began his YouTube career in 2013 and won a MOBO Award in 2021 for Best Media Personality.
