Andrei Matei, 35, has been jailed for 27 months after admitting 483 charges of theft and criminal damage related to a massive cash machine fraud across England.
The Romanian national, from Failsworth, Greater Manchester, used a tool to jam ATMs open, allowing him to steal over £19,000 while causing £30,000 worth of damage.
His crime spree spanned multiple locations, including West Yorkshire, London, Nottinghamshire, Wiltshire, and Berkshire. Police linked him to thefts from supermarkets, petrol stations, and shopping streets in cities like Huddersfield, Bradford, Bath, Bristol, and Salisbury.
Matei was arrested in Nottinghamshire in September 2023, following an investigation led by West Yorkshire Police and the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit.
Appearing at Leeds Crown Court, Matei pleaded guilty and received a 27-month prison sentence. Authorities confirmed he will be deported after serving his time.
