Anamika Tyagi Lover Held for Faking Rs16.5L Robbery in Hapur

In a dramatic turn of events, Hapur police have arrested Anamika Tyagi (28)—alias Neha—and her boyfriend Nigam Kumar (23) for staging a fake robbery at her in-laws’ house to steal jewellery and cash worth Rs16.5 lakh.

Neha, a native of Bijauli village in Meerut, had been married to Shubham Tyagi of Nangola, Hapur, for eight years. The couple has a six-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. Police revealed that Anamika had been in a secret relationship with Nigam for nearly five years, which had led to frequent quarrels with her husband.

On Saturday, a complaint was lodged alleging that two people disguised as LIC agents broke into the house, drugged Neha and her son, and made off with Rs15 lakh worth of gold ornaments and Rs1.5 lakh in cash.

However, Circle Officer Jitendra Kumar Sharma confirmed that the incident was orchestrated by Anamika herself. She confessed during interrogation that she had planned to elope with Nigam and had staged the robbery by mixing sedatives into her father-in-law’s food to render him unconscious.

Her initial statements to the police were riddled with inconsistencies, eventually leading her to admit the entire plot. Police recovered the stolen items and arrested both Anamika and Nigam.

SHO Munish Pratap stated, “Anamika’s affair with Nigam prompted her to devise the plan. She tried to mislead investigators, but her version of events quickly unraveled.”

A case has been registered under BNS sections 307 (theft), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), and 317(2) (retaining stolen property). Further investigations are underway.
