Amsterdam Woman Cassie Waldynski Arrested for Welfare Fraud

Montgomery County, NY (WRGB) — Cassie Waldynski, 38, of Amsterdam, was arrested and charged with welfare fraud on December 18 following an investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the Department of Social Services, and the Sheriff’s Office.

Waldynski faces one felony count of third-degree welfare fraud and four felony counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing. According to authorities, she applied for and received SNAP benefits from Montgomery County while actually residing in Vermont.

After her arrest, Waldynski was processed at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and arraigned in the City of Amsterdam Court. She was released on her own recognizance.

The investigation remains ongoing.
