Amritsar Police Arrest Three More for Rs 2 Crore Dry Fruit Theft

The Amritsar Rural Police have made three additional arrests in connection with the high-profile dry fruit theft that took place at a cold storage facility in Ibban Kalan village on September 4. The arrested individuals have been identified as Dharminder Singh, Harpreet Singh, and Sahil Singh, all residents of Asal village in Ferozepur.

The investigation into the Rs 2 crore heist had already led to the arrest of four other suspects, including notorious criminal Thana Singh of Zira, who has 11 criminal cases registered against him. The other individuals previously apprehended were Parveen Singh of Zira, Jaswinder Kaunr of Gudaspur, and Ravinder Singh of Adampur, who each had one case against them.

Following the arrests, the police recovered significant quantities of dried fruits and grocery items looted from the cold storage. These include 29 bags of black pepper (30 kg each), 40 bags of black grams (30 kg each), 189 tins of cashew, 62 boxes of figs, 76 buckets of almonds, and 5 bags of turmeric, among other items.

Amritsar Rural SSP Charanjit Singh confirmed that the arrested suspects have been presented before the court and are now in police custody for further questioning and investigation.
