Amritsar Police Arrest Four, Seize Over 5 Kg of Heroin in Drug Bust

In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, the Amritsar police have apprehended four suspects and seized over five kilograms of heroin, officials reported on Thursday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurjant Singh alias Kalu, Jagjit Singh from Amritsar, Sahil Kumar alias Sahil from Tarn Taran, and Rinku from Ferozepur. According to authorities, the suspects were connected to smuggling operations involving Pakistan-based traffickers who used drones to transport drugs across the border.

Two separate FIRs have been filed at the Cantonment and Sadar Amritsar police stations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, mentioned that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and recoveries are expected as authorities continue to uncover more connections within the trafficking network.
