The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Staff-2 in Amritsar successfully arrested a drug smuggler, Kabal Singh, and seized one kilogram of heroin during a special operation on Tuesday. The 40-year-old suspect, a resident of Dauke Bhaini village in the Gharinda area, was found riding a motorcycle without a registration plate. He had concealed the heroin, which was recovered during a search of his vehicle.
The operation was conducted as part of a special campaign aimed at curbing drug trafficking in the city. Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, confirmed that the operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Sarmel Singh, in charge of CIA Staff-2. The police had gathered specific intelligence prior to the operation, which was executed in a meticulous and planned manner.
The arrested suspect, Kabal Singh, is an 11th-grade educated man. Along with the heroin, the police also seized the motorcycle used by the accused. The drugs and vehicle were confiscated on the spot.
A case has been filed against Kabal Singh under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Islamabad police station. He will be produced before a court and remanded in police custody for further interrogation. Authorities hope this investigation will help trace his drug network, uncovering both backward and forward links, and revealing the source of the heroin consignment.
This operation is expected to lead to more significant findings as the investigation into the smuggling operation continues.
