Amit Kumar Pandey, Two Others Arrested in CNG Pump Scam Bust

The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell has dismantled a syndicate involved in defrauding individuals by falsely promising to set up petrol and CNG pumps. The syndicate was brought to light after a complaint was registered with the IFSO Special Cell, leading to the arrest of Amit Kumar Pandey (41) from Paschim Vihar, Delhi, Amrendra Kumar (47) from Vinod Nagar, Delhi, and Amar Singh (62) from Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

According to police reports, the group scammed victims by promising to install CNG pumps on their land in exchange for hefty payments. One victim, who filed a complaint on March 27, 2021, revealed that he was defrauded out of Rs. 2.39 crore. The syndicate used a combination of forged documents, including fake registration certificates and invoices with falsified GST numbers, to convince the victim of their legitimacy.

The fraudsters, Amit Kumar Pandey and Amrendra Kumar, first contacted the victim in 2021 after he inquired online about petrol and CNG pump allotments. Posing as authorized agents, they assured the victim of an easy process to set up a CNG pump with minimal formalities. A large portion of the money—Rs. 1.79 crore—was funneled through dummy bank accounts, while Rs. 60 lakh was collected in cash.

The police investigation revealed an elaborate scam where the accused exploited multiple victims using similar tactics. They have been charged under various sections for forgery, fraud, and conspiracy, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover more potential victims.
