Amarillo Drug Trafficker Landis Barrow Sentenced to Life in Prison

AMARILLO, Texas — A Texas man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after being convicted on several serious drug trafficking charges.

46-year-old Landis Barrow received the life sentence for his involvement in the distribution and possession of controlled substances. The charges include:

Conspiracy to distribute controlled substances
Three counts of distribution of methamphetamine
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine
Possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking
Barrow’s sentencing follows a similar fate for his twin brother, Mandis Barrow, who was also sentenced to life in prison a year ago for similar crimes. According to U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Leigha Simonton, the evidence presented during Landis Barrow’s trial revealed his significant role in the distribution of methamphetamine to a source on multiple occasions in late 2022.

In February 2023, a search of Landis Barrow’s home by DEA agents uncovered methamphetamine, cocaine, drug scales, paraphernalia, approximately $7,000 in cash, a firearm, and a ledger with his name listed.

Further investigation revealed that Barrow was part of a criminal organization and had admitted to distributing over 2,200 pounds of controlled substances for a Mexican Cartel. During testimony, Barrow described himself as a “gangster” and acknowledged overseeing a crew.

In addition to his drug charges, Barrow is also a suspect in a murder investigation related to a robbery in November 2022. The incident involved the theft of drugs and money from a residence, and Barrow allegedly sought retaliation. Court documents show Barrow made threats of violence to those he believed were involved in the robbery.

The judge during sentencing also found that Barrow had committed perjury while testifying in his own defense.

Barrow was sentenced to life in prison, where he will serve time for his role in one of the most serious drug trafficking operations in the region.
