TUSTIN, Calif. — A 40-year-old man from Orange, Alfredo Reyes Jr., has been arrested for allegedly stealing military equipment, including several Humvees, from the Army Reserve Center in Tustin.
On January 8, Reyes is accused of breaking into a storage warehouse and cutting a lock to access the military vehicle parking lot. Several Humvees, as well as a collection of army gear, were stolen during the break-in. The stolen items included:
3 Humvees
1 Armored Humvee (Model: M1151A1)
2 Cloth Doors Humvees (Model: M1097)
8 machine gun vehicle mounts
7 free-standing machine gun tripods
18 bayonets
40 pairs of binoculars
Medical equipment
On January 16, a joint effort involving Tustin police, the Irvine-Tustin SWAT Team, the Army Criminal Investigations Division, and the O.C. Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad led to the execution of several search warrants in the city of Orange. Reyes was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. No booking photo has been released.
All stolen equipment, including the Humvees, was recovered during the arrest. Tustin police thanked their law enforcement partners and members of the public who provided valuable tips to help resolve the case.
