Albuquerque Man Arrested for Stealing $10,000 Worth of Pokémon Cards

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — Albuquerque police have arrested 33-year-old Brian Bettis in connection to the theft of $10,000 worth of Pokémon cards from a business in Old Town. Bettis was apprehended at his home on Friday, two weeks after the burglary.

According to the owner of Old Town Hobbies and Games, Joe Benitez, the suspect broke into the store by climbing onto the roof and jumping into the courtyard. Benitez noted that he recognized the thief immediately, as Bettis had previously sold him cards at the store.

Bettis now faces charges including aggravated burglary, larceny, and property damage. He was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center following his arrest.
