Akhilesh Kumar Singh Arrested in Delhi Police Exam Scam

Kota city police have apprehended Akhilesh Kumar Singh, a fugitive wanted for two years in connection with the alleged Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, according to a police official. Singh, who was also sought by Kota police for another case involving forged documents, was arrested on Saturday in Haryana’s Jind district.

Akhilesh, 32, hails from Jamui district in Bihar but has been residing in Rohini, Delhi. He is accused of renting the premises of Kota’s Om Kothari Foundation to conduct an online examination in 2020. Along with a local accomplice, Himanshu Rathore, he allegedly forged the signature of an official from the institute to create the necessary documents for proprietorship, securing the location as an official online examination centre for the Delhi Police recruitment exam.

The scam was uncovered in 2022, leading to a case registered by the Delhi Police’s crime branch. Investigations revealed that during the exam, computers used by some candidates at the Kota centre were connected online to gang members in Delhi, who solved the entire paper remotely. The Kota City SP, Amrita Duhan, noted that several individuals have already been arrested by Delhi Police in connection with the case.
