BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A repeat drug offender in Bladen County has been arrested for the second time in just over a month following a police chase that ended in a crash.
According to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling near Tar Heel on March 6 when they attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, however, failed to comply, leading to a short pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed on Bill Hall Road.
The suspect was identified as Akeem Jamel Brown of Elizabethtown. Upon searching the vehicle, detectives found several types of illicit narcotics.
Charges Against Brown:
After being treated at Bladen County Hospital and discharged, Brown was taken into custody and charged with:
Maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for selling or keeping controlled substances
Possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine
Possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver MDMA
Possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana
Felony possession of cocaine
Felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance
Altering/stealing/destroying criminal evidence
This marks Brown’s second drug-related arrest in the county within a month.
Bond Set at $130,000
Following his arrest, Brown was placed under a $130,000 secured bond as authorities continue their investigation.
