In a bizarre incident, Ajith, a 21-year-old man from Thiruvaniyoor, was arrested by the police for allegedly stealing money and a mobile phone from a migrant labourer he had befriended. The crime occurred after Ajith met the victim, a migrant worker from Andhra Pradesh, at a toddy shop in Kakkattupara.
Ajith took the victim to another toddy shop in Iruppachira, promising that the drinks would be better there. The two reached the location on Ajith’s bike, where they had more drinks. During their time together, Ajith asked to check the victim’s Instagram account, and while doing so, transferred money from the victim’s bank account into his own.
Later, Ajith tricked the victim again by taking him on his bike, stopping on the way and pretending to urinate. In that moment, Ajith snatched the victim’s mobile phone and fled the scene. After the incident, the victim reported the theft to the police, who tracked Ajith down and arrested him from Puthencruz.
In another case, a 37-year-old man, Vishal Murali, was detained under the Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa) and moved to Viyyur Central Jail. Vishal, from Aluva, has been involved in multiple criminal activities including attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping, and bodily harm. His detention follows investigations into his criminal history, including a kidnapping and robbery case in October 2023.
