Ahmedabad Police Constable Arrested in TMT Steel Bar Theft Case

A police constable from the DCP Zone-2 in Ahmedabad was arrested by Vejalpur police in connection with a TMT steel bar theft. The theft involved the seizure of four tonnes of stolen TMT steel bars worth an estimated Rs2.5 lakh.

The incident came to light when Imran Manapara, a manager at a TMT steel bar company near Sarkhej police station, received information on Saturday night about a batch of their stolen steel bars dumped near Aehsan Park in Juhapura. Manapara and his team set up surveillance to monitor the area and identify those involved.

They observed three pickup vans loading the stolen material when a young man arrived in a car. The suspect was immediately detained with the help of the police and was identified as Mustafa Khan Malek, a staff member in the DCP Zone-2 of Ahmedabad Police.

During interrogation, Malek confessed to purchasing the stolen steel bars from a driver in Kutch for Rs2 lakh. Based on this admission, Vejalpur police have filed a case and are continuing their investigation into the theft.
