In a major anti-narcotics operation, police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, arrested four individuals on Tuesday in two separate incidents, leading to the recovery of mephedrone (MD drug) worth Rs1 crore, officials said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, the first arrest took place on Patthar Godown Road, where 154 grams of mephedrone was seized from Ahmed Shah (42) and Pappu Saroga (45). Shah hails from Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan, while Saroga is a resident of Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh.
In a second operation under a bridge on MR-10 Road, police arrested Hariom Jha and Lakshya Singh Rajput, both aged 26. Officers recovered 36 grams of mephedrone from the duo. Jha is from New Delhi, and Rajput is from Dausa district in Rajasthan, Tripathi added.
The combined market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs1 crore in the international market. During interrogation, the accused revealed that the mephedrone supply chain runs from border districts of Rajasthan into Indore, raising concerns over interstate drug trafficking routes.
FIRs have been registered against all four individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a detailed investigation is underway to uncover the larger network behind the operation.
