Adrian Austin Arrested on Multiple Human Trafficking Charges in Oshawa

A male is facing multiple charges after a human trafficking investigation in Oshawa led to his arrest.

In January 2025, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) received information regarding a female victim being trafficked in the Oshawa area. The Human Trafficking Unit launched an extensive investigation, which resulted in the identification of both the victim and the accused.

On Wednesday, April 23, DRPS officers executed search warrants under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence near Park Road South and Johnson Avenue in Oshawa. The male suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The search led to the seizure of evidence supporting the human trafficking charges, as well as a quantity of unregulated cannabis. Police suspect the accused may have targeted victims working in local retail establishments, raising concerns about additional potential victims.

Adrian Austin, 39, of Oshawa, has been charged with trafficking in persons, material benefits from sexual services, procuring/exercising control, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and possession of cannabis for distribution.

Austin was held for a bail hearing, and authorities are continuing their investigation. Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
