WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Triad activist Frankie Gist, 29, was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses following a police response to a fraud call at a shopping center.
Officers from the Winston-Salem Police Department responded on April 24 to the 2100 block of Peters Creek Parkway after receiving a report of fraud. Following an investigation, Gist was arrested and charged.
Authorities stated that Gist received property based on a written promise, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Gist, who ran unsuccessfully in the 2024 Democratic primary for mayor, is also the founder of Hope Dealers Outreach, a nonprofit organization established after the 2012 death of Trayvon Martin.
