Chennai police on Saturday arrested a married couple from Erode, K Dinesh Kumar (26) and M Kousalya, for allegedly running a fraudulent job scam targeting job seekers. The couple was arrested following a complaint filed by K Dinesh Kumar, who claimed to have paid Rs 9 lakh to J Mohan, a key suspect, in exchange for securing a government job for his fiancé.
According to the police, Mohan provided Dinesh with a fake appointment order, which was later discovered to be fraudulent after verification. Upon realizing he had been duped, Dinesh filed a complaint with the police. Investigations led to the couple’s arrest from their home in Erode.
A subsequent search of their residence yielded 34 fake appointment orders, Rs 1.47 lakh in cash, a laptop, nine mobile phones, 48 counterfeit government stamps, fake identity cards, and other incriminating materials. Police believe the couple had defrauded many others by promising fake government jobs, including positions like clerks and office assistants, and collecting large sums of money in the process.
The police are continuing to investigate and are on the lookout for additional suspects linked to the scam. The couple has been remanded in judicial custody as the case unfolds.
