Douglas Ross Jr. Accused of Embezzling Over $50,000 from Habitat for Humanity

Aberdeen man arrested for fraudulent returns totaling over $50,000

Douglas Ross Jr., 22, of Aberdeen, has been charged with felony larceny by an employee after allegedly embezzling over $50,000 from Habitat for Humanity.

According to Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis, the theft was reported on March 25, 2024, when Habitat for Humanity discovered that an employee had been processing fraudulent returns starting in March 2023. Investigators reviewed video footage, computer transactions, timesheets, and statements to confirm Ross’s involvement in the embezzlement.

A warrant was issued for Ross’s arrest, and he was apprehended on April 19, 2024. Ross is being held at the Moore County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
