SACRAMENTO – Mark Sirard, a longtime teacher in Sacramento, has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest was made public on Tuesday, though further details regarding the investigation remain limited.
Detectives stated that the case originated from a probe in the United Kingdom, which involved multiple international law enforcement agencies. Although specific information about Sirard’s involvement in the case has not been disclosed, investigators have expressed concern due to his long-standing role working with children. This has raised fears about the possibility of unreported victims.
Sirard, who is employed by the Sacramento City Unified School District, was arrested but has not been identified as a teacher at any specific school. He was booked into Sacramento County Jail, with bail set at $50,000, but has since posted bond and been released.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have information relevant to the case to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
