FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Darrel President Sr., the director of the Greenbrier Resource Community Development Center (GRCDC), was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation into the misappropriation of funds intended for the organization.

According to warrants issued by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the 56-year-old President allegedly took approximately $44,000 from the non-profit without the knowledge of its board of directors. The GRCDC had received $100,000 in state-funded grants between May 2022 and July 2023 for the construction of a community center in Fairfield County.

The investigation revealed that President withdrew $44,220 from the organization’s bank account between May 2023 and February 2024. After being questioned by board members, he admitted to the withdrawals and began repaying the funds in June 2024. Authorities have now charged him with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, valued at $10,000 or more.
