Mumbai Police Arrest 10 in Major Cyber Crime Crackdown

Suspects Linked to Fraudulent Schemes and Scams

On Saturday, the Mumbai Police announced the arrest of 10 individuals allegedly involved in various cyber crime cases on October 12.

According to police officials, the arrests were made across different divisions: the South Cyber Cell apprehended three suspects, the Central Cyber Cell arrested one, the Western Cyber Cell detained three individuals, and the North Cyber Cell took in three suspects.

From the South Cyber Cell, Jayesh Unni (34) was arrested in Navi Mumbai for allegedly having Rs5 lakh fraudulently deposited in his account. Additionally, Shailesh Patel (53) was detained for acting as a mediator, facilitating fund transfers through hawala. Ajay Karache was also arrested as he was reportedly a beneficiary of the racket operated by this trio.

The Central and Western Cyber Cells apprehended two individuals linked to a share market investment scam, where they were alleged beneficiaries of fraudulent activities.

In another case, the Western Cyber Cell arrested two suspects for misusing bank accounts of companies in relation to a cryptocurrency scam.

The North Cyber Cell rounded up three alleged suspects involved in a separate share market investment scam, according to police reports.
