On January 20, 2025, deputies from the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary call in the Hines Place Subdivision. Deputy Shelby Hayes, who was newly trained, handled one of his first calls alongside Supervisor Sgt. Tommy Roberts. The deputies quickly gathered information, including video footage of the suspect vehicle. Deputy Justin Dalton played a key role in identifying the vehicle.
The following day, Deputies Hayes and Flint Miller tracked down the vehicle in Live Oak, which led them to a residence on Garrison Road. After speaking with a suspect at the location, deputies learned that James Brannon and Dylan Pennington were involved in the burglary, and the stolen items were found on a utility trailer on the property.
Brannon was arrested after admitting his involvement, but Pennington fled the scene. He was captured later with the help of K9 Thor and the Suwannee Correctional K9 Team. In addition to the arrests, a stolen utility trailer was recovered.
Multiple suspects were charged with burglary and grand theft, including another individual with outstanding warrants. The investigation continues as authorities work to bring further closure to the case.
