Larry Ingram, a Kansas man, is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of his common-law wife, Deniq Ingram, who was previously his stepdaughter. The tragic incident occurred on December 21, 2023, in their Wichita apartment, where they shared a three-month-old infant.
Larry initially told police that he had heard a noise and called out to Deniq, but when she didn’t respond, she frightened him when she appeared suddenly, prompting him to open fire. Later, he changed his story, claiming that he had been dealing with issues related to someone slashing his tires and feared a home invasion. He said he left his room to find Deniq on the floor.
However, investigators quickly discovered that Larry had a protective order against him that required him to stay away from Deniq. This protective order was in place because Deniq had been a key witness in a rape and incest case against Larry. According to The Wichita Eagle, Deniq’s mother, Daniva Chandler, stated, “He killed her so that she couldn’t testify.”
A year after Deniq’s death, Larry was convicted of 17 crimes related to the abuse of her sisters. This conviction further solidified the suspicion that Larry’s motive for killing Deniq was to prevent her from testifying in his ongoing legal battle.
