Jason McClure & Jorge Chacon Arrested After Parachuting Off Crane
RALEIGH, N.C. — Two men were arrested on Christmas Eve after performing a daring stunt in downtown Raleigh, scaling a construction crane and parachuting off it early in the morning.
Raleigh police reported that around 2 a.m., the men were seen climbing the crane, which is located at the site of the new city hall. Officers observed them on the machinery before they jumped, parachuting onto the top level of the City Hall parking deck on West Hargett Street. Fortunately, neither man was injured during the descent.
After landing, police swiftly arrested both men, identified as 51-year-old Jason McClure and 37-year-old Jorge Chacon. They were charged with first-degree trespassing and resisting a public officer. Both were released later that day after posting a $2,000 secured bond.
The incident has raised concerns about safety at construction sites and the legality of such stunts in public spaces.
