Akiel Lynch, a 21-year-old laborer from Vineyard, St. Elizabeth, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony. These charges stem from an incident on Saturday, October 19, in which 62-year-old businessman Aggrey Atkinson was fatally injured during a robbery in Balaclava.

According to reports from the Maggotty police, at around 12 p.m. that day, four armed men entered a business establishment and stole three cartons of cigarettes, phone cards, and an undisclosed amount of cash from an occupant. The assailants fled the scene on foot, but Atkinson, the victim, was severely injured in the robbery and later died at the hospital.

Lynch was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the crime. He is scheduled to appear in the St. Elizabeth parish court on Friday, December 6.
