Sheriff’s deputies in Pottawatomie County arrested Kimberlea Becklund, 32, a homeless woman, on Monday after a series of vehicle thefts were reported in Riley County.

The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) responded to a report of motor vehicle theft just before 7 a.m. on Monday in the 500 block of S. 15th Street. A service vehicle owned by Olgoonik Enterprises was reported stolen, along with a second vehicle, a 2012 GMC Denali.

As officers continued their investigation, they were able to locate both stolen vehicles in Frankfort later that day.

Sheriff’s deputies from Pottawatomie County arrested Becklund in connection with the stolen vehicles, though the exact charges have not yet been disclosed by RCPD.

This incident was part of a series of vehicle-related crimes reported to RCPD, with ten motor vehicle burglaries and three vehicle thefts, two of which have been recovered. Officers are urging the public to remain vigilant and lock their vehicle doors when leaving their cars unattended.
