A woman on probation for forgery has been arrested in Fairfield, California, for allegedly scamming an elderly victim out of thousands of dollars. Luisa Soane, 30, of Hayward, was taken into custody on December 5 in connection with a case of elder abuse. Police say Soane used the stolen funds to purchase a vehicle, all while posing as a Fairfield police officer.

According to the Fairfield Police Department, investigators were led to Soane after discovering that the victim’s bank account had been accessed without authorization. The stolen money was used to buy a vehicle using the victim’s identity. Soane had reportedly been in contact with the elderly victim, manipulating them into trusting her while committing the crime.

Authorities also revealed that Soane is on probation in San Diego for a previous forgery conviction. She was booked at the Solano County Jail on charges related to the scam and elder abuse.

The Fairfield Police Department continues to investigate the case, urging residents to stay vigilant against such fraudulent activities targeting vulnerable individuals.
