In a major breakthrough, Nawabpet police in Nellore arrested eight individuals in connection with the murder of Kalyan Reddy, who was attacked and killed on February 8. The murder was a result of a feud between two groups of youngsters, which had escalated during a local festival held on January 16.
According to Nellore town DSP P Sindhu Priya, the key accused, D Ajay Kumar, had feared retaliation from Kalyan Reddy and plotted his murder, fearing that Reddy might orchestrate his own death. Ajay Kumar, along with seven accomplices—Murugan Ajit, T Siva Kumar, A Uday Kiran, V Surendra, K Pavan Kumar, K Ramesh, and G Manoj Kumar—planned the murder meticulously.
On February 8, the group carried out a knife attack on Kalyan Reddy at the Wood House Sangam area, resulting in his death. After the crime, the assailants fled the scene. Based on a complaint from the victim’s family, the Nawabpet police quickly launched an investigation and arrested all eight suspects on Wednesday.
The authorities also recovered the murder weapons from the possession of the accused. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
