7 Arrested in $6M Cargo Theft Ring Across North Texas

In a major breakthrough for law enforcement, seven individuals were arrested in connection with a sophisticated cargo theft ring spanning multiple cities in North Texas. The ring, which targeted warehouses for high-demand electronics, resulted in over $6.2 million in stolen goods.

The investigation began in May when Grapevine Police Department responded to a theft at a warehouse, where suspects cut a hole in a garage door and stole products worth over $500,000. The stolen items, which included 2,223 pairs of Ray-Ban Supernova Wayfarer glasses and 20 pairs of Oculus goggles, were loaded into a stolen box truck. Security footage captured the heist, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.

Grapevine police, sharing information with neighboring police departments in Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, and Coppell, discovered that this theft was part of a larger pattern of warehouse burglaries. The stolen items also included several million dollars’ worth of cell phones, with losses totaling over $4.6 million from three separate thefts in Coppell alone.

As detectives from Plano hit a roadblock in their investigation, the shared data from Grapevine proved to be key, allowing authorities to track the suspects and catch them during their next planned heist. The thieves typically struck in the middle of the night, but unbeknownst to them, the police were prepared and waiting.

The investigation led to the arrest of Adrian Ellison (38), Julius Green (40), Willie Hill (38), Eric White (33), Fayzal Kara (40), Ronnie Vaden (33), and Derrick White (38), all charged with felony organized criminal activity. The arrests were made possible through cellular data that placed the suspects at the scene of the crimes.

Despite being out on bond, all seven suspects now face serious felony charges, with the potential for life in prison if convicted. Law enforcement continues to work on recovering the stolen goods and tackling the significant financial impact caused by the thefts.
