The Thane Police Crime Branch arrested five individuals from Kerala on Thursday in connection with the robbery of Rs30 lakh from an employee of a Mumbai-based private firm.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Amarsingh Jadhav, the incident occurred on February 21 near Thane railway station. The victim was in a parking lot when four men approached and snatched a bag containing Rs30 lakh. He immediately filed a complaint with the local police.
Investigating the case with the help of CCTV footage and technical surveillance, the Thane Police tracked the suspects to Kerala. In a successful operation, they arrested five individuals, recovering Rs7.5 lakh in cash and two iPhones worth Rs3 lakh, which had been purchased using part of the stolen money.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Vignesh Poken K (31) – Calicut
Suhat Moinuddin Khoya TP (31) – Calicut
Prabuldev Premkumar Pullivata (25) – Coonoor
Akil Krishna PV (27) – Coonoor
Subilesh K Balakrishnan (32) – Kozhikode
All five suspects have been remanded to police custody until April 19, and further investigation is underway to recover the remaining stolen funds and uncover any additional accomplices.
