3 Drug Smugglers Arrested with 1kg of Smack Worth Rs3 Crore in Uttarakhand

In a significant operation on Saturday evening, Uttarakhand Police arrested three drug smugglers and seized about 1 kilogram of smack, valued at over Rs3 crore in the international market. The arrests took place in Udham Singh Nagar district during a routine vehicle check.

The team, led by Pullbhatta SHO Ravindra Singh Bisht, intercepted a suspicious vehicle (UP 14 CF 9528) near the Shankar Farm Cut area. Upon searching the car, police recovered a total of 1kg of smack—353 grams from Sanu Ahmed of Bareilly, 355 grams from Khurshid Hasan, and 350 grams from his wife Asma, both residents of Kashipur, Uttarakhand.

The drugs were sourced from Rifakat Ali, a known smuggler from Fatehganj West, Bareilly, and were being transported to Sitarganj for distribution. The police have confirmed that Khurshid and Asma are regular offenders and have been arrested multiple times under the NDPS Act.

SSP Manikant Mishra stated that investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to track down other individuals involved in this drug racket. The seizure of such a large quantity of drugs underscores the police’s commitment to curbing narcotics trafficking in the region.
