3 Arrested in Woman’s Murder After Encounter in Sultanpur

The Sultanpur Police have arrested three individuals involved in the murder of a woman, following a police encounter in the Akhandnagar area. The development comes just days after an encounter between the Lucknow STF team and robbery accused Anuj Pratap Singh near Achalganj-Kolhua road, close to the Unnao-Raebareli highway.

The three accused—Salman, Sarwar, and Javed—were injured in a retaliatory police firing and were immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment before being moved to the police station for further legal processing.

Salman, the main accused, was reportedly in a relationship with the victim and was also injured during the police encounter. The police took Salman and his associates, Sarwar and Javed, into custody. The encounter took place in the jurisdiction of the Akhandnagar police station.

Additional Superintendent of Police Akhand Pratap Singh explained that the victim’s body was found on September 21 in Gosaiganj, and the post-mortem revealed she died due to strangulation. Her missing report had been filed earlier on June 1 by the Kadipur police station.

The police investigation revealed that Salman, Shahenshah, Sarwar, and Javed were involved in the murder. Salman, who was acquainted with the woman, had traveled to Mumbai with her. Upon returning, she proposed marriage, but Salman refused, leading to an argument where she threatened to file a police complaint. The incident prompted Salman and his accomplices to conspire against her, resulting in her tragic death on September 20.

Following the arrest of Shahenshah, the police laid a cordon in Akhandnagar on Tuesday morning to apprehend the remaining suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
