In a swift operation, Sadar police have successfully arrested a 19-year-old web design student and his underage accomplice within 48 hours of a burglary at a computer store on Residency Road, Sadar.
The duo is accused of stealing five laptops, a hard drive, and cash worth Rs 1.80 lakh to fund their online gaming habits. The prime accused, identified as Piyush, also known as Sudarshan Agar Dongre (19), resides in Snehdeep Colony, near Nara Ghat. His accomplice, a minor, had previously been involved in a separate theft case but was let off with a warning due to his age.
The burglary occurred between 3:00 am and 3:30 am on January 29 at the SnapShot computer shop, owned by Ajay Mangtani, located across from Orient Hotel on Residency Road. Police reports indicate that Dongre had earlier scouted the shop to familiarize himself with its contents.
The crime was caught on CCTV, which played a crucial role in helping the police track down the suspects. A special team led by Sadar police inspector Manish Thakre was formed to crack the case. While Dongre’s identity was difficult to trace initially, the minor accomplice was recognized from previous police records and was quickly brought in for questioning.
Thanks to the operation, the police successfully recovered the stolen laptops, hard drives, and the vehicle used in the crime. The investigation was led by Inspector Manish Thakre and Inspector Manisha Kashid, with significant support from API Sandeep Jadhav, PSI Nilesh Ghogre, ASI Riyaz Mulani, and other officers.
This quick response by the police has ensured that the stolen items were recovered, and both suspects are now in custody as the investigation continues.
