19-Year-Old Man Arrested for Hacking Travel Company Systems and Booking Fraudulent Tickets

A 19-year-old man, identified as Vimal Garia, alias Vicky Garia, was arrested by the Azad Maidan police in connection with a cyber fraud case. Garia, a resident of Bageshwar, Uttarakhand, allegedly hacked into the online systems of a private travel company and fraudulently booked airline tickets worth Rs 4 lakh.

The fraud was discovered during an internal audit on January 21, when Jitendra Sawant, the HR and Admin Manager at Blue Star Air Travel Services India Pvt. Ltd., noticed several unauthorized bookings. This led to an investigation, which eventually uncovered that the bookings were made by the accused, who used illegal access to the company’s online system.

A joint operation between the Azad Maidan police and the local police in Bageshwar led to the arrest of Garia. Authorities have charged him with cybercrime and fraud, and they are continuing their investigation to determine if there were any other victims or accomplices involved.

This arrest highlights the growing issue of cybercrimes targeting businesses through hacking and fraud, as criminals exploit vulnerabilities in online systems for personal gain. The authorities are urging companies to strengthen their cybersecurity measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
