Pattaya, Thailand [Date] — Police in Pattaya have arrested a 14-year-old Laotian youth, known by the alias “Chang Noi,” for breaking into a luxury condominium belonging to Ms. Annie, a 40-year-old Australian real estate entrepreneur. The teenager allegedly stole a haul of gold and diamond jewelry valued at a staggering 3.5 million baht before fleeing the scene.
The stolen items, which included high-end watches, bracelets, and rings, were found hidden in the boy’s bag and were later returned to the grateful victim. Police managed to capture Chang Noi near Wat Nong Or in Central Pattaya, approximately 5.7 kilometers from the crime scene.
Chang Noi, who had reportedly fled from a juvenile shelter just days prior, admitted to the theft during questioning. He claimed to suffer from autism, which he said played a role in his actions. Authorities also noted his history of prior criminal activities, including a burglary during the Loy Krathong festival, where he was linked to the theft of 20 Buddha amulets, with clear evidence from CCTV footage.
Ms. Annie, the victim, expressed her gratitude to the Pattaya police for their swift response and recovery of her stolen property. Police have now detained Chang Noi for further legal proceedings, as authorities continue their investigation into his criminal activities.
